Synonym finder | Diversify your writing and your keywords

synonym finderI ran into a really cool synonym finder site yesterday and had to share it with you.

When I started my first site, I had several problems:

  • Not being a native English speaker made my vocabulary limited.
  • I could not do a detailed keyword research because I did not know all the variations and synonyms.
  • My writing was plain boring.

My writing is still plain, but that is because I like to keep it simple. But there are many advantages to why you want to know all the possible synonyms.

Keyword research

If you are doing a keyword research, the tools sometimes won’t pull up the results that are synonyms cause they don’t recognize them as such.

But if you have a synonym finder, list all the synonyms for your keyword and then run them through the research tools, you might be surprised at all the great keywords you are missing.

Writing

I usually know how to express what I want to say. But at times I wish I used other words to make a stronger point. Well, if you are a native English speaker, you can’t even imagine how hard it is sometimes. That is where dictionaries and other language helpers come in handy.

So for all those in need, here it is: Synonym finder.

Hope you will share this post so all those in need can find it!

  1. Hi Brankica

I never know what I’m going to read when I arrive here. Nice surprise as always :-)

A lot of first language English speakers wouldn’t know what a synonym is so you’re still ahead of the pack ;-)

And I like the new look. As I said, never know what surprises await me. Way to go Brankica. The synonym finder should prove very helpful I’m sure.

lol, glad you like the new look, I keep tweaking and tweaking, but I like the dark header way more than that all white space. And yeah, I guess I am ahead, knowing what a synonym is :)

  2. I checked out the site and it looks good and I think it can be very helpful when looking for variation of words..I will bookmark it..

  3. For being a second language, I’m blown away with your writing abilities Brankica, and this synonym finder is a great idea for everyone to impliment into their writings. I’ve gone ahead and bookmarked it for myself.

You always have value with your writings Brankica, thank you! :-)

    • Brankica says:

Thanks Marcus! I really appreciate it and I am reading in English like crazy, trying to improve my language skills :)

  4. You know what; synonym finder is good but not great. I tried to find synonyms for Brankica, but the answer it returned was “Sorry, we couldn’t find synonyms for ‘brankica’.” If it really knows all the synonyms it should have given a long answer full of many adjectives which would have also included “intelligent, extremely helpful lady and a great human being.”

Anyway, on an equally serious note I think it is a good site for all who like to communicate in English. This could even be helpful for students in places like India who along with GRE need to write TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language). Good for children as well – they keep asking what the meaning of this word is – I know my kids will like it.

It also has antonyms and definitions which kind of makes it a rounded site for improving English vocabulary. Many thanks for suggesting it.

    • Brankica says:

I don’t even recall that my name means anything in my language :) But you really made me smile! Thanks!!

  5. It looks good. I use thesaurus website for that purpose. As always I like to try new things. So synonym finder is welcome.

  6. Hi Brankica
I totally follow you or should I say: stick with you :-) on this one. It can’t be difficult when English is not your native languages to find the right word for the thing you want to express. I do believe that I get at little better for each post and each comment I make. My vocabulary is slowly growing. Thanks for sharing this great online tool with us. I am sure that I can help me a lot.
See you around Brankica and have a groovy weekend :-D

  7. So totally bookmarked. I’m constantly looking for ways to spice up my writing, so thanks for sharing this with us.

Have an awesome weekend, Brankica! (I always want to write Brianika…)

  8. Sometimes I feel really frustrated when I could not find synonym word and this also affects your writing skills but now I got the resolution. Thanks very much Brankica.

  9. I know when you use same word again and again it really makes your post boring and you too find that it’s not catchy, but when you write different words with same meaning then it really impress your readers and they got a feeling that you’re very talented and did huge research for the post.

  10. I use a thesaurus but am going to give your synonym finder a go! Never hurts to use new words. I find I get stuck using the same words and I’m bored so everyone else must be bored too!

    Thanks for sharing your finds.

  11. Thanks for the link! I like it better than MerriamWebster! Even us native English speakers have troubles with vocabulary! The link will come in very handy! mary:)

  12. Brankica says:

I am so glad you liked this tool, I know I will be using it more :)

  13. Using different words with same meaning really impress your readers. I’m going to start using this site now.

  14. Hi Brankica,

That’s a great tip. I am not a native English speaker, and I struggle with words all the time.

I have been using another website, a dictionary which also includes a synonym service, once in a while. But, usually I just keep writing without thinking about using it. I guess I’m suffering from the ticking clock syndrom :-)

  15. After the very useful CuteRank, you add the Synonym Finder. You are a gem, Brankica, and I am very glad I found you. Although English is my first language (Aussie English that is), I still need a thesaurus when I write, so this new tool you’ve shared is a great help. Kudos, ma’am!

  16. Glynis Jolly says:

Like Debbie Beardsley, I use a Thesaurus. I can’t live without one and English is the only language I know well enough to make any sense with. Just to give you a way to find synonyms while in the middle of writing a post, article or story, there’s one in Microsoft Word and Works Word Processor. Sometimes you need more than what this will give you but not always. :-D

  17. I think your writing is wonderful Brankica and much better than mine would be in any other language. ;-) BTW I like the picture of you at Turner Field cheering for the Atlanta Braves, very nice.

Another thanks for sharing this tool. I have a thesaurus, the thud book variety by my desk, b/c it is important to mix up and find the right word; sometimes words have similar meanings and yet, one is just more ‘right’ than another, can really add that punch or significance. FWIW.

  18. Hey Sharpy,

I like to use synonyms as often as I can in order to use the same word over and over again in a post. So I’m quite a fan of these tools. I don’t think I’ve ever used synonym finder before but I’ve bookmarked it now and you can be sure that I’ll be using it a lot!!! Generally I use synonyms.com and thesaurus.com the most – or I use merriam-webster.com cause it’s a great dictionary and has a thesaurus included in there as well. The other that’s really good is the Visual Thesaurus – lots of options here but some require subscriptions.

Anyhow – there’s a few more but I won’t bore you with them all lol.

Thanks for sharing this uber practical tool.
Talk to you later ;) .

    Ciao

  19. Word, Brankcia, that site is fantastic, marvelous, terrific, tremendous, grand, wonderful and wondrous!

It’s certainly not absurd, cockeyed, idiotic, ludicrous, laughable, preposterous, ridiculous, or nonsensical!

    Great find :)

  20. Great post, awesome, brilliant (I should use the tool tofind more ;) )

Shared on SERPd, Blokube, Twitter, SU and with my cat. Random but he liked the image :)

  21. I checked it out, it’s great. I have bookmarked it and believe it will be from big help. Only if I could improve this write a comment part. :) Thanks

    • Brankica says:

Lol, you are getting better at it… you know where to read how to do it ;)

  22. i want to find sinonim keyword for my sites but not in english, may be you can help me, best regards, thanks

    • Brankica says:

I would not know the answer to it. English isn’t my first language and the only other synonym stuff I found for my language, for example, were printed books. Maybe you can Google it and see if anything comes up.
