This is an old post I have edited and now reposting for several reasons.
The main one is that not all of you (yes, you reading this now) have done this yet and I think it is about the time you do!
I have found two solutions for you.
Get someone to do it for you
Do it yourself
Here is a step-by-step tutorial on how to create a Facebook fan page.
STEP 1
Go to Facebook Fan page creation. You will see this:

STEP 2
As you can see there are 6 different options to choose from. They are pretty self explanatory. For a blog, I would choose the top right box – “Brand or Product”.
The box will change into this:

STEP 3
From the drop down menu, choose “Website”.
STEP 4
Type in your Fan page name. The first letter must be capitalized.
Facebook will warn you if you can not use the name for some reason. I would recommend, even before you start creating the fan page, to think of several options.
Branding would be a great idea, so naming your page by the blog makes a lot of sense.
STEP 5
Check the box to agree with Facebook terms.
STEP 6
Hit the Get Started button. That will open your newly created Facebook Fan Page and you can start customizing it!
Post bullseye
This will take 1 or 2 minutes of your time. You can not be that busy that you can’t go and create the page now!
With 500+ million users Facebook is irreplaceable in traffic generation and social networking, so please do this for your blog.
If you go now and do it, post the link to your newly created page in the comments and I will go and like it
I know it isn’t much, but one like is better than none.
Leave your opinion related to Facebook fan pages in the comments. You don’t have to comment directly on the topic of creating one, just give me your opinion on anything related to these fan pages

I don’t have a Facebook fan page but I’m soon going to start it as FB is great place to get visitors and expand your network.
Brankica, as always, this is an excellent post. I do NOT have a FB fan page.
I think you are getting to know me a little by now and will understand why I ask this next question.
Do Facebook Fan Pages get picked up by Google, Yahoo or Bing and placed in the search engine results pages?
I haven’t done much research about FB. I know some pages do get listed by the search engines and others don’t.
Yes, they do. But I can hardly imagine anyone Googling a fan page when they can search for it directly on Facebook.
The point of a page, is not being found on Google but connect with people on Facebook. You can’t really SEO your page so why sweat over it. I would always choose more fans over being indexed in Search engines.
As you said, I know you a bit by now and I would say you are too obsessed with search engines
Thanks for the alert, Brankica.
I did start a page but need to go and improve it and finish what I started. I love the way you make tech stuff so simple that even I can follow it!
Lol, glad you found it easy to follow and if you ever get stuck with techie stuff, I am more than happy to help
OK, for some stupid reason it won’t upload a picture for me. I select it from my PC, a relatively small file, and all it does is says Uploading Picture’ but it just hangs there. I let it go for an hour or so and then went to bed in disgust.
It’s doing the same thing today. I tried using Firefox and Chrome but with no success. Maybe it doesn’t want me to have a fan page???
OK, that happens to me all the time, BUT I let it be like that for a few minutes and then click on the View Page in the top right. When it takes me back to the page itself, it shows the photo as uploaded and in the right place. Have you tried that?
Sure did, even tried it again. I let it go for about half an hour and considering it’s only a 13kb file it should have done it in a second.
Thanks for this post, Brankica.
It really is this easy to put up a Facebook page. I’d add that businesses can get extraordinary results from adding a customized landing tab. This can encourage visitors to like the page, enter a contest, or sign up for a download or enewsletter. This is a great lead generation tool that is often overlooked.
I agree and I use it on some of my pages. However, I do think that the best thing to have on the landing page is just an invitation to like the page, cause that is what you want them to do.
People click out when they are offered too many things
I actually have a too busy landing page for this blog’s fan page, LOL…
I definitely do agree that it is a great lead generation tool, especially now when it is easy to set it up to show different landing pages to fans and non fans.
Thanks so much for the comment!!!
Hey there, Brankica!
Again, you’re so awesome. You even did the shopping around on Fiverr for us! =)
I took the plunge recently and built an extremely clumsy FB fan page. It has 51 fans now, all of them targeted. And a lot of them are coming from my other fans’ friends list, because I don’t recognize them from my blog (which gets few comments still, but it’s better than none). I’ve been considering purchasing one of the how-to products out there to build it into something better.
And speaking of outsourcing, I’ve also been thinking about hiring someone to write my natural parenting basics book from my notes and outlines. That way I’d have a little something to offer as incentive to Like my fan page or join my mailing list. Then I’d only have to figure out where I could host a PDF for free download.
Ah well. One thing at a time, yes? =)
Delena
Hey Delena, when it comes to hosting your book and doing everything you need about selling it, here is the post for you to read – http://www.thelaunchcoach.com/how-to-use-e-junkiecom-to-sell-your-stuff
And don’t buy any products for fan pages before you send me an e-mail, I might be able to help you depending on what you need.
Thank you for the great tutorial, Brankica !
Even though I already have a FB page, I thanking you for all newbie bloggers out there (since I am a newbie blogger, I think I can represent them
).
FB page would be a great tool to market your blog. But, unfortunately I haven’t used FB much (to market my blog).
Anyway, thank you for the great post !
Note : Advanced congrats on winning the Famousbloggers contest (I know this because you have one among the awesome posts – excellent quality for the post, great number of comments and shares).

You know me and facebook LOL Maybe I’ll get around to it when all the other tasks are completed. You do make all this techie stuff sound simple….though for me it never is

Hi Brankica,
I have set up several Facebook fan pages for other business, but only one test page for myself. It was very easy to set up. The things I spent more time with than anything else was the landing page. I have tested several scripts and ended up with one called like spinner. Now, after the iframe change, I’m looking for another scripts
- Jens
I’m confused, (but then I confuse easily)!
I have a Facebook account, that is my “personal” one, where I want to connect with friends & family, & I want that to be separate from my on line activities as related to my blog. I have always resisted using the “like” button, as I didn’t want my mother in law seeing me “liking” some blog about the latest “back linking technique” e.g., ~ some things are better kept to myself when it comes to family!
Is there some separation between FB/Personal & FB/Business? Can some one point me to a place I can hone up on the basics? I think I’m missing out by not understanding FB for business/branding purposes.
Is having a FB page like having another “blog” in effect, where constant new content is key?
~Bruce
Hey Bruce, you need personal account to manage the fan page but it doesn’t show you there. When you post on the page wall, it shows posts as page’s posts not your own/ You can use filters to set up who can see what on your personal profile, so your business related contacts can’t see your private photos and your mom can’t see your…business stuff
Having a fan page is a great way to share stuff from your blog, promote it but at the same time promote others (help and you will be helped) and most important – communicate with your fans.
Hey Brankica!
Great tutorial!
I’ve had my page up for a while but I get people who ask me all the time about setting one up themselves. Will share this with them!
Pam
Thanks Pam, I hope people find it useful
Great post – Fanpages can be daunting at first but once you get the hang of it you realise the basic set up really is quite easy.
